PROJECT OF SPECIAL MENTION:

As part of our endeavour, we were successful in bidding for the project of Construction of Eastern Kosi Afflux Bund (EKAB). This Bund was constructed by Water Resources Department, Bihar in Nepal with a Barrage in the 1960's to tame Kosi River that was and is the most destructive River in the history of this country. The Eastern Afflux Bund breached in August 2008 and caused havoc throughout Nepal and Bihar. The floods were declared as a national calamity and the State Government of Bihar along with Government of India constituted a High Level Committee to find a remedy to this calamity. The work of Constructing the Coffer Dam and Closing the Breach was put to tender as 12 groups for an estimated cost of 94 crores. 56 bidders participated but we were successful in procuring the contract for 115 crores. The work was to be completed by March 31st, 2009 with a working period of just 5 months. Vasishta took up the task with utmost sincerity.

To achieve such a feat for a small enterprise was no ordinary task. The idea was to think out of the box. Traditional methods were time consuming. The territory of Nepal was hostile. Continous Bundhs and Strikes were a daily chore. With focus, determination and sincerity we constructed the Coffer Dam and closed the 1.7 km long breach on 26th of January, 2009 well within the stipulated time. The Chief Minister of Bihar, The Minister for Water Resources, The Prinicipal Secretary for Water Resources, The Principal Secretary for Disaster Management, The Engineer in Chief of Water Resources Department on 31st of January, 2009 in their Press Meet lauded the efforts of our company for completing the Project before time and were awarded by the department has the “star contracture”.
